What is MACRA?
MACRA (Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015) is the umbrella legislation that includes the Quality Payment Program (QPP) which promotes incentive payments for reporting better quality care, lower healthcare costs and EHR interoperability.  MACRA eliminated previous quality reporting programs, including PQRS and Meaningful Use.  MACRA is divided into two paths:

  1. The Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS)
  2. Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs)

Most providers will participate in the MIPS pathway initially, while CMS continues to develop APMs for greater participation.

MACRA affects most providers.

Unless you are new to Medicare, participate in an APM or fall under a low Medicare low volume threshold, you must participate in the MIPS program or receive a Medicare Part B payment penalty.

Don’t take on MACRA alone.

It’s important to assess if your EHR vendor is going to be able to support the complex reporting requirements of MACRA. Talk with us today about how our EHR and Practice Management solution is guaranteed to help you avoid the penalties and maximize your incentive dollars.
